Pet Sitting/Home Care

In home care for pets that includes giving meals, cleaning of litter trays, social interaction and performing general household tasks. (Minimum distances will always be respected during a visit, if clients are social distancing within the home. Gloves will be worn during cleaning of trays and animal waste. Doorknobs of entryways can be disinfected when arriving or leaving.

Dog Walking

Walking dogs in the local area for a specified time, using the appropriate commands demonstrated by you, the client. Commands and temperament can be discussed at a virtual Meet and Greet. As only two dogs will be walked at a time, each pet is given more one on one attention and more effectively handled than walking in large packs. (Only one household’s pets will be walked at a time to maintain safety and hygiene.)

Animal Waste Handling

Cleaning of litter trays and backyards of animal waste only. Animal waste will be collected into compostable bags and disposed of within a household’s rubbish or compost. (To maintain hygiene, it is requested that clients provide their own pooper scoopers and litter tray equipment.)

Pet Sitting

Is your pet anxious, elderly or infirm? Pet Sitting will be a great alternative for you. Your beloved pet will stay in a familiar environment with the benefit of maintaining a routine.

Dog Walking

Not only is walking for your dog excellent exercise, it will also provide mental stimulation. Diminishing the likelihood of destructive behaviour occurring. This service is ideal for pet parents with pet/s that are high energy. I can meet your pet in your yard to minimize physical contact between yourself and me. A lead carried by me can be used or an owner’s lead and equipment can be sanitized with detergent and hot water, after a walk, if required.

Animal Waste Handling

Need help with cleaning animal waste? This service is ideal for pet parents that require assistance with cleaning their yard or litter tray only. (To reduce cross contamination clients are asked to provide their own poop scoopers.)

Home Care Services

Worried about your home while you are away? I can provide security checks of your home, water your plants, collect your mail and put out your bins.

Will I catch Coronavirus from my companion animal?

There is no evidence that you can catch the Novel Coronavirus Disease (CO-VID19) from your companion animal or from other animals, including wildlife or farm animals. This strain is transmitted through human to human contact only. To date, there is no evidence that companion animals play a role in the spread of this human disease or become unwell from exposure. There are many different types of Coronavirus. Media reports that have stated that dogs and cats have tested positive with Coronavirus are referring to different strains that pose no risk to humans.

Precautions to Minimise Risk of Contracting Illnesses

Hairy Poppins Pet Sitting advises that:

Maintaining personal hygiene through washing of hands is essential.

(Hairy Poppins Pet Sitting carries soap and/or hand sanitizer at all times.)

A minimum distance of two metres will always be kept between all clients.

(This includes meet and greets and visits of any duration.)

Meet and Greets can be held virtually through Skype or FaceTime.

Shaking of hands at meet and greets is not required.

Gloves will be worn during dog walks, cleaning and whilst handling animal waste.

Pets can be met in their yard for walks and pet sitting to reduce physical contact.
